   Delta Class

Class: DELTA

Date Initiated: April 1, 2017

Eva Cvetanovska

Currently: Second year of Commerce at McMaster University

Hi! Currently I'm going into my second year of Commerce. In the winter, I work as a ski instructor, and although I took off a year to transition to university, I'll hopefully be returning to the slopes next year! As well, I'm a huge extrovert and love being involved in extracurriculars wherever I can. Joining Delta Psi Delta was definitely one of the best decision I made during first year. After having a rough first semester, the sisters of DPD really helped me overcome some obstacles I was facing and exposed me to what true sisterhood is all about. I'm lucky to have been exposed to this wonderful group of girls and I can't wait to see what we'll have in store for the years to come! Dove love

Currently: Second year at McMaster University

I took two years off after high school to follow my dream of being a professional ballet dancer, and during this time I started dating a guy who was part of Greek life. Needless to say, I completely fell in love with Greek life and met so many amazing people who were part of it. When I decided to come to McMaster University, I was told that there were sororities, and I instantly knew that I needed to join. After meeting the sisters of Delta Psi Delta, I fell in love with the idea even more then I thought was ever possible. I felt at home in seconds. Being initiated was the best thing to ever happen to me, it still feels surreal to know that I’m accepted by such an incredible group of girls, and to know that there will always be people there for me no matter what, and that I am trusted to be there for them as well. Social life is a big part of my University experience, but Delta Psi Delta is much more then “social life,” it’s a family. We are all our own people, but are brought together by similar values, and I think that is the thing I love the most. “A sister is a forever friend” and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with my sisters, no matter where our futures may lead us.

Currently: Doing a face mask (Final year of Commerce at McMaster University)

Once upon a time... Princess Shelly just ended her football game (cause y’all know GAINS DOE) and was about to head back to her castle (AKA her student house) when she bumped into Princess Gorgeous (let’s call her Princess G). Princess G was on her way to a DPD recruitment event and that’s when she told Shelly that she was a part of a “sisterhood.” Honestly, at that time Shelly’s limited knowledge of “sisterhood” was all derived from stereotypical things you see in movies. Anyways, she kindly invited Shelly but since she was all sweaty and wasn’t looking 100 she told her that she would attend an info session the following day instead. A few hours before the sess, Shelly was really hesitated about going but after creating a long list of pros and cons and having hours of consideration, she decided to step out of her comfort zone and went to the event in her pumpkin carriage (AKA the HSR). From the moment she stepped in, all the girls made her feel extremely welcomed even they don’t know her identity since she was in Birks and not in her glass slippers. After the sess she attended more events and each event made her fall in love with DPD even more. The stereotypes she had was broken and if she described DPD in 3 words it would definitely be welcoming, supportive, and diverse.

All jokes aside, I’m not a princess (as you can tell from my pic) but I do really hope my story motivates you to step out of your comfort zone and try something new whether it’s coming out to a DPD info sess or anything else!

Oh yeah since this is my bio, from reading the story you can tell that I enjoy playing football, have a sense of humor ;), and is almost always in her birks & socks (feel free to zoom into my pic for ref). #dovelove

When I came on exchange to McMaster in Autumn 2016 I didn’t know that sororities and fraternities even existed in Canada; so when some of my international friends joined a frat at Mac I was sceptical of what they entailed. However, after seeing how much they were enjoying being part of Greek life, I was keen to see what the hype was about.

In January 2017, I went along to a DPD information session. Although at first, I felt super awkward going to Delta Psi Delta recruitment events, I was immediately struck not only by how friendly everyone was, but by how much all the girls cared about and supported each other. The opportunities I have had, and friendships I made in this sorority made saying goodbye to Canada so hard; but on the plus side, DPD has given me the best reason to come back!

Currently: Second year of Life Science at McMaster University

Hey, my name is Asvathi Rajkumar! Ya ya ya, it may be hard to say but split the words up into As-va-thi and it should be easier. Anyways, this coming school year I will be going into my second year of Life Sciences. Im very well interested in music; I can play the violin, piano, saxophone and sing Indian classical music. I know, more than enough to call myself a music major I love traveling, adventuring and knitting. I am an only child and have always wondered how it was to have siblings. By joining Delta Psi Delta, I have gained wonderful sisters that will be life long friends. Joining the sorority was for sure an eye opening experience. When hearing about different peoples opinion about sororities, I was triggered to join one in order to see the true side of it. Being here today, I can for sure say that I have made one of the best decisions in my life by joining Delta Psi Delta. It is a loving, caring and growing community. Everyone is different and unique but thats what brings us all together. I am beyond grateful to call these beautiful souls my sisters and can’t wait to see what the future has for us! Dove Love
